Final Thumbnails
After making adjustments, I could see how much more engaging the pieces were with bolder values. Now that it’s week 5, I realise I must come to a decision on which thumbnail to develop further. Although they all have interesting perspectives, I chose the one with a bird’s-eye view as it aligns with the initial theme and main focus. Furthermore, this piece holds a meaningful story, as it resembles an introduction to the map of the lands in the sky.
Feedback: Try rendering the wings more to capture more attention to the statue. -Luca Risino
True, I didn’t give much attention to the wings at first. I will try to blend the values of the wings to make it more realistic.

Adding Colours Experiment
With corrected values, I moved on to colouring. As you can tell, I struggle a lot colouring in through gray scale. As this is my first time, I experimented using various layers provided by Photoshop, for instance, gradient map, colour lookup, and the colour layer. Gradient map has an interesting approach in colouring grayscale as I can adjust the colours for each value. Colour lookup provides even more dramatic colouring, while colour layer feels like painting again with colour. Despite all that, the thumbnail still doesn’t look right. At this point, I feel frustrated.
